X-Men Cosplay World Record Attempt
When Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby first sat down and brainstormed the ideas for the X-Men in 1963 they could not have envisaged such an array of cosplayers arriving at the Odeon Cinema in London’s Leicester Square to attempt a world record for the most X-men cosplayers in one place.
Timed to coincided with the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past premiere at the Odeon cinema the organisers were hoping to set a new record of 250 or more X-Men characters, although there is currently no existing record, organisers hoped to establish an official Guinness book record in a 5 minute count in the cinemas auditorium.
Josh Varney had the idea and recruited Raul Herrera-Acuna and Lauri Remy who devised the attempt.
There were no specifics as to which version of the character could be played and as long as it is an official character from the X-Men franchise. This was evident by the amazing array of costumes including Wolverine, Magneto, Beast, Storm and Phoenix. The best cosplayers were also battling for tickets to the premier of X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Sadly the world record attempt fell slightly short of the required 250 participants but judging from the smiles all the attendees enjoyed it.
