Avengers: Age Of Ultron Teaser Screened At SDCC
During their panel last night at SDCC, Marvel screened a teaser of the upcoming ‘Age of Ultron’. Whereas no footage of it has appeared online as yet (officially or otherwise), from descriptions of it what we do know about the trailer is:
Teaser starts at the party in Avengers Tower (as seen in previously released promo pics).
All the members of the Avengers are there plus Roadie. Stark tells Thor that he thinks the whole “If he be worthy….” shtick relating to Mjolnir is a circus side show and tries to pick it up. No success. After getting one of the Iron Man gloves and help from Roadie with gloves from Iron Patriot, the hammer still stays where it is.
The other members of team try as well. Hawkeye has no luck. Banner, gripping the hammer with both hands, really exerts himself but again, no luck. He mockingly pounds his chest as if in Hulk-rage which gets him looks from the others.
Steve attempts to lift but can’t, however Mjolnir does shift slightly when he tries which makes Thor a little worried.
Black Widow passes on trying saying that she doesn’t want to know if she’s worthy or not.
Everyone wonders why nobody can lift the hammer. Thor tells them “because none of you are worthy”
Moments later a piercing shriek sounds through the room as we see a battered, exoskeleton enter the room. In one of his early forms, it’s Ultron! He has some sort of red armour (damaged) with an Avengers logo on the left chest. He then proceeds on a long monologue: “How could any of you be worthy? You’re all killers. I know you’re ‘good’ people, I know you mean well. But you just didn’t think it through… There is only one path to peace — your extermination. You are all killers. You want to protect the world but you don’t want it to change.”
Two Ultron drones then crash through the walls heading menacingly towards the unarmed Avengers.
As a creepy sounding version of “I’ve got no strings” from Pinocchio plays, Ultron continues: “I had a vision … the whole world screaming for mercy. Everyone tangled in strings. Strings.”
Whilst Ultron is talking we see other images including:
People running away in terror
Scarlett Witch on some kind of train
Banner looking very sick
Hawkeye and other helping people escape (most likely the scene we’ve seen pictures from including Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch)
A shirtless and confused Banner walking through the snow and then in some sort of hospital/room.Black Widow racing through the streets on a motorbikeThor smashing up a TankWe hear Stark saying “It’s the end. The end of the path I started us on.” Black Widow adds, “Nothing lasts forever.”
Black Widow looking scared and sad, tenderly running her hand along Hulk’s fist which is inches from her face (a romance between Widow and Banner??)A very angry looking Hulk taking on Stark in the Hulkbuster suit.
The montage of scenes ends with the final version of Ultron turning to face the camera, red eyes glowing, saying “There are no strings on me!”
The movie logo then appears on screen
We then see the camera panning across a rocky surface, stopping at the sight of Captain America’s shield broken in half! The camera then cuts to Stark (not in his Iron Man suit) who is looking down at the broken shield before pulling out to reveal the image of bodies lying on the ground (possibly at the bottom of a stone staircase), in tatters, all of them Avengers and all of them appear to be dead! Tony looks completely horrified and ashamed!
Cut to black and trailer ends!
Wow! That ending sounds crazy and something I personally really can’t wait to see! Obviously I don’t expect the Avengers to be dead, this will most likely be a sight that Scarlett Witch is making Tony see. Perhaps a glimpse of what’s to come in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Especially if it is indeed a stone staircase the bodies are lying at the bottom of because I can think of a certain big guy that likes his stone staircases!
