“Thanos… You Goonie!” – Josh Brolin Cast As Thanos In Guardians Of The Galaxy
In a story first reported by Latino Review and subsequently confirmed by Variety, Josh Brolin has been named as the man who will, at the very least, be voicing the “Mad Titan” in James Gunn’s upcoming entry in Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Brolin, who has played everything from a Goonie to George Dubya Bush, will now take on the role of one of Marvel’s biggest villains whose love of the Infinity Gauntlet is almost as great as his love of Death! And that’s Death with a capital D. He loves the physical manifestation of Death….. it’s complicated.
Thanos is widely expected to be the main villain in Avengers 3 so how much we will see (and hear) of him in Guardians is unknown at this point, but whatever we’ll see of him it’ll no doubt continue the story that we first saw at the end of the original Avengers movie when his cheeky, wily smile filled the screen.
With Thanos making his arrival proper in the MCU and the mention of “The Infinity Gems” in Thor 2, then obviously the Infinity Gauntlet will not be far behind in making it’s appearance (if you don’t count the ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ cameo in the treasure’s room in the first Thor). Will we see Thanos wearing it in Guardians? We’ll find out in August when Guardians of the Galaxy is released worldwide.
