The Wil Wheaton Project
Geeks are slowly inheriting the earth, and the SyFy channel is leading the charge with their new hit series, The Wil Wheaton Project. Actor and nerd icon Wil Wheaton graces the SyFy network once again as host to a new half-hour commentary series that celebrates and pokes fun of all things geek related.
No human being is better suited to host such a show than Wil Wheaton, an actor, blogger, author, and Twitter user well known for his celebration of geek culture. As an actor, Wheaton’s pedigree includes Star Trek: The Next Generation, Eureka, The Big Bang Theory, and Felicia Day’s fantastic web series The Guild.
The Wil Wheaton Project offers a weekly roundup of geeky pop culture that is being billed as Talk Soup for nerds. As a self-described nerd enthusiast, Wheaton plans to cover the gambit of geek culture whether it’s Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Ghost Adventures, or the History Channel.
The season premier for The Wil Wheaton Project aired last night much to the delight of geeks around the globe. The show definitely lived up to the hype with comedic clips ranging from Hugh Jackman singing his way through X-Men interviews, to an 80’s style opening theme song for The Walking Dead. Special guest appearances were made by Shawn Ashmore (Iceman in the X-Men franchise) and Chris Hardwick (Comedian and creator of Nerdist Industries).
I for one could not be happier with SyFy’s newest creation. Believe it or not, I laughed so much that I nearly performed an actual spit take! Words can not express the profound respect and admiration that I have for Wheaton, and am happy to see him once again on the air where he belongs.
By some divine miracle I will actually be in audience attendance for Wheaton’s second taping, featuring special celebrity guest Felicia Day. How I will manage to be in the same room as these two talented individuals without fanboying out is anyones guess. One thing is for certain, this show is not to be missed.
The Wil Wheaton Project airs Tuesday nights in the US 10/9c on SyFy, and can also be streamed online via the homepage.
I want my last words to be; Hold my beer and watch this!
