DemoraFairy is our Cosplay of The Month for November! I first met her back in October of 2013 when she cosplayed Jinx, I was amazed how fast she made the cosplay and how awesome it was! She also came to League of Legends Championships back in June with me. She is the queen of worbla!

November – DemoraFairy

Luna Godess

What was your first cosplay?

A Dark Brotherhood Assassin in the Shrouded Armour from Oblivion.

What was your first convention?

London MCM in October 2008.

How did you get into cosplay?

My friends asked if I wanted to go with them to MCM and mentioned that people often dressed up as character, which sounded amazing to me.

What is your dream cosplay?

I don’t really have a dream cosplay – if I want to do one, I’ll do it.

What cosplay or prop are you most proud of?

I can never decide! For prop it’s either Fishbones or the blade for Lunar Goddess Diana.

For cosplay, probably either Lunar Goddess Diana or Headhunter Caitlyn.

What is your favourite martial to work with?

Worbla! I’m finally getting round to a full armour cosplay, and I’m so excited about it!

What is your favourite convention and why?

Probably MCM, but I haven’t really been to any other conventions to choose from. It’s got the most gaming stuff out of the cons I’ve been to, but I may change my mind if I went to a more gaming-centred event like EGX or Insomnia.

Best cosplay moments?

Probably either winning best gaming character at LAGC in February (though I’m not entirely sure how the judging worked as the overall winner was a Zelda), or when people say they recognise me from my other cosplays, or that one of my cosplays is their inspiration for cosplaying the same character.

Worst cosplay moments?

When my gun broke while on stage in a masquerade as Jinx. I could have laughed at it as Jinx probably would, I could have shrugged it off and carried on, instead I fumbled around with it and ran off-stage. The worse than that was probably seeing pictures of it afterwards.

What is your next big project?

Popstar Kayle, hoping to have it done by May.

Any tips for new cosplayers?

A few things I wish I’d known when I started:

If you ever think ‘that’ll probably hold’, it won’t. I sew everything I can, I’ve relied on glue and tape and had it break so many times. That said, don’t sew something too much – I once sewed something so much the fabric had so many holes in it that it just fell apart.

Take work in progress photos! I didn’t when I started because I saw it as something professional, popular cosplayers did, and didn’t think anyone would be that interested in my cosplays. But I’ve had loads of people ask me how I did something for one of my old cosplays, and now I wish I had photos to show them! It’s much easier to show photos of something than try to explain it.

If you’ve got a list of cosplays you want to do and can’t decide which one to do next, you’ll appreciate doing the one with comfortable shoes and pockets or a bag when you’re at the con.
