BAFTA Games Awards 2015 – Nominees

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) have announced the nominees for the 2015 British Academy Games Awards.  This year’s ceremony will be hosted by comedian Rufus Hound.

Comedian Rufus Hound will be hosting the ceremony.

51 games have been nominated across a total of 17 categories to recognise the level of creative excellence from a wide range of UK and International games development teams.

The games that are in the running for awards are Alien: Isolation, with a total of six nominations in Audio Achievement, Best Game, British Game, Game Design, Game Innovation and Music.


Alien: Isolation is nominated in six cateogories.

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 4 recieved a nomination for Artistic Achievement, Game Design, Music, Story and Performer bringing the total to five nominations.

Monument Valley also has five nominations with a chance to win an award in Artistic Achievement, Best Game, British Game, Mobile & Handheld and Original Property.

80 Days is nominated for British Game, Game Innovation, Mobile & Handheld and Story; Destiny is nominated in four cateogories with Best Game, Game Deisgn, Multiplayer and Persistent Game.

Mario Kart 8 and Middle Earth: Shadow Of Mordor also have four nominations each, with Mario looking at picking up Audio Achievement, Best Game, Family and Multiplayer whilst Shadow of Mordor has been recognised in Game Design, Best Game, Game Innovation and Music.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is nominated for Best Game, Game Design, Game Innovation and Music.

Other games making the list are The Banner Saga, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Lumino City, Titanfall and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, with each of them recieving three nominations each. Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved, Forza Horizon 2, Hitman Go, The Last of Us: Left Behind, Minecraft: Console Editions, Never Alone, The Sailor’s Dream, Threes, Valiant Hearts, The Walking Dead: Season 2 and The Wolf Among Us all picked up two nominations each.

For the Performer cateogory, many of the voices behind the most loved games have been recognised; Adam Harrington, the voice behind Bigby Wolf in The Wolf Among Us; Ashley Johnson, Ellie from The Last of Us: Left Behind; Kevin Spacey, Jonathan Irons in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare; Logan Cunningham, the voice of Transistor, Melissa Hutchinson, Clementine in The Walking Dead: Season 2 and Troy Baker, the voice of Pagan Min in Far Cry 4.

Other games recognised are Assassin’s Creed Unity, Broken Age, Counterspy, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Eve Online – Phoebe, FIFA 15, Football Manager 2015, Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions, Hohokum, Kalimba, The LEGO Movie Videogame, League of Legends, LittleBigPlanet 3, Madden NFL 15, OlliOlli, Runescape, Shovel Knight, Skylanders Trap Team, Sunset Overdrive, Trials Fusion, Twelve a Dozen, World of Tanks and World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor.

The finalists of the BAFTA Ones To Watch Award are Chambara, Sagittarius and Don’t Walk: Run. This award presents the talent of young games developers and designers and highlights those to look out for in the future.

The BAFTA Games Awards will take place on Thursday 12th March 2015 in London. You can find the full list of nominees here.
